ABS-CBN brings home 14 USTv awards
ABS-CBN shows bagged 14 of 19 trophies during the 3rd annual University of Sto. Tomas (USTv) Students’ Choice Awards, TV Patrol World reported Thursday.
The USTv Awards, which was held Tuesday night at the University’s Medicine Auditorium in Manila, were drawn from the nominations of the 33,000-strong student body.
“TV Patrol World” was awarded “Best News Program” for the third straight year.
“The Correspondents” was adjudged as “Best Local Documentary Program” while ABS-CBN sister station Studio 23 garnered the “Most Youth Responsible TV Station” award.
Studio 23’s “Y-Speak” received the “Best Public Affairs Show” award and “F” was named the year’s “Best Magazine Program.”
On the entertainment front, network executive vice-president Charo Santos-Concio received the “Best Drama Program” award for “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”
“Maging Sino Ka man” was named as “Best Drama Mini-Series” while actress Bea Alonzo and actor John Lloyd Cruz were awarded “Best Students’ Choice of Actress and Actor in a Drama Mini-Series.”
“ASAP ’06″ was named “Best Variety Entertainment Show” while “Pinoy Dream Academy” went home with the “Best Reality TV Show” award. The Anime’ series “Naruto” was named “Best Full Animated Program.”
Also awarded were education program “Sineskwela” and sitcom “OK, Fine Ito ang Gusto N’yo.”
The USTv was organized to honor to TV programs showing artistic excellence and Christian values.
